Drum roll please!

No really, before you read on make a drum roll sound effect... I'll wait...

If you did it you probably laughed a little at the silliness of it... Or at least cracked a smile I hope! Even though this post has nothing to do with labor tips, I'll throw one in for free.

According to Time.com article “Not only is humor good for the mind, it’s good for the body, especially in labor,” according to The Birth Book by William and Martha Sears. “Laughter increases the level of endorphins, the body’s natural pain relievers and relaxers. It decreases levels of unwelcome stress hormones and relaxes muscles. Laughter is like an internal massage. As the ancient writings of Proverbs advise, ‘A cheerful spirit is health to the body and a strength to the soul.’ Bring a bit of humor to your birth.” When you laugh, you relax. Muscles you didn't know you were tightening just let loose. So dad's, go ahead and crack a joke... just know when it's time for the jokes to end and don't blame me if you miss that transition and she throws something at you;)

“Sometimes crying or laughing are the only options left, and laughing feels better right now.” ― Veronica RothDivergent

Ok, now for what I really wanted to tell you!

DONA International Birth Doula Certification

The waiting is over and I am now a DONA certified birth doula! (If you don't know what that's all about go back to my last blog post for the details)

Not only am I now officially done with my training, because of choosing to affiliate with DONA International, I am committed to continuing my education as a birth worker and excited to uphold DONA's vision of a doula for every woman who wants one. And on top of all that I get to use some really cool initials behind my name! CD(DONA)!

DONA certified birth doula name tag

As cool as that is though, my favorite initials are still the ones that come before my name;)
